The New York Jets open as 1-point favorites over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday Night Football at MetLife Stadium. The Jets have lost four of their last five games and are outside looking in on the playoff picture. Jacksonville has won three of the last four and has put themselves in striking distance to capture the AFC South.
New York Jets vs. Jacksonville Jaguars moneyline
- New York Jets: -110
- Jacksonville Jaguars: -110
This is a playoff game for both teams. The Jaguars are looking to stay within one game of the division-leading Titans while the Jets are trying to keep up in the AFC’s wild card race.
Trevor Lawrence is leading the Jacksonville Jaguars back into the postseason picture. After starting the season slowly, Lawrence has been one of the league’s best quarterbacks in recent weeks. In his last six games, he has completed 70% of his passes for 1,680 yards with 14 touchdowns and 1 interception.
The Jets’ defense will have to bring their best going up against one of the hottest offenses in the league. If the Jets can create pressure on Lawrence and force him into a few bad throws, the Jets should be able to slow them down. The return of Quinnen Williams will be a big boost for the Jets’ defense, which struggled to create any pressure without Williams in their loss to the Detroit Lions.
New York Jets vs. Jacksonville Jaguars over-under
- New York Jets vs. Jacksonville Jaguars over-under: 38.5
- Over: -110
- Under: -110
I think this game has a strong chance to go over the total. At first look, it is a low total in comparison to other NFL games.
As well as Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars’ offense have played recently, their defense still has plenty of holes the Jets can exploit. They are giving up 370.7 yards per game which is sixth-worst in the NFL. Jacksonville has trouble stopping the pass as they rank 29th in the NFL in passing yards per game at 252.6.
The weather could potentially slow down both offenses as it looks like it will be raining for most of the game. However, both offenses have produced in the rain this season and I expect that to continue Thursday night.
New York Jets vs. Jacksonville Jaguars injuries
DT Quinnen Williams (calf) is trending toward playing after missing one game. Corey Davis (concussion) is also likely back Thursday. Denzel Mims (concussion) is doubtful while Zonovan Knight is likely to play but questionable with an ankle injury. Mike White (ribs) is still being evaluated but seems like a longshot to play vs. Jacksonville.
Cam Robinson suffered a torn meniscus in the Jags’ win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday and he will miss the remainder of the season. Former Jet Foley Fatakasi (ankle) and Trevon Walker are listed as day-to-day. Jacksonville anticipates all players who were injured vs. Dallas to play Thursday.
