Clinton Portis spoke about his experiences with New York Jets fans during his playing career
A former Pro Bowl running back had some negative (or positive, depending on how you look at it) comments for the New York Jets’ fanbase.
Appearing on Barstool Sports’ “The Pro Football Show,” Portis called the Jets “the worst crowd” he ever played against.
Clinton Portis said that no fanbase was as bad as the Jets and he couldn’t understand why they were always so mad 😳😂
“Out of all the places I’ve played, the worst crowd and this is over #Oakland, over #Philly … were the #Jets.” 😅

“Out of all of the places I played, the worst crowd, and this is over Oakland, over Philly, the worst crowd that I ever heard, where you really got people in the back that annoy the entire sideline, were the Jets,” said Portis.
“I was in Denver, and the Jets, it was like, is this personal? I turned to my teammate and said, ‘Do you know these people? Did you play here? What happened that they hate you to this magnitude?'”
In the broader spectrum of sports discussion, the Jets are rarely talked about as having a ravenous fanbase. They are seemingly overshadowed by teams like the Bills and Eagles, who have built up fanbase reputations over the years. A lack of sustained organizational success has also hampered the franchise, as many people discount the fanbase due to their failures on the field.
Yet, there is no doubt that the Jets have one of the most passionate and hardcore fanbases in all of football. The TV ratings for the team are consistently high. Fans ensure that MetLife Stadium has a home-field advantage with packed and loud crowds. As always, there is a large social media fanbase that has helped give recognition to the team’s players.
While Portis’s comments could surprise some, they should not be surprising to Jets fans and those around the team. They are passionate in everything that they do, and if the team continues to have success, Portis will not be the last player, present or past, to discuss the impact of the team’s fanbase.
