A prominent NFL film junkie sees the New York Jets winning the AFC East in 2024

While many in the media are skeptical about the New York Jets’ outlook in 2024, one prominent NFL analyst is taking a different route.

Appearing on NFL Network, film analyst and former 12-year NFL offensive lineman Brian Baldinger said that he is “all in” on the Jets in the 2024 season.

“As much as we want to focus on Aaron Rodgers, the defense might be the best in the league. They have loaded up. When you trade for Haason Reddick, add Javon Kinlaw, bring back Solomon Thomas, they’re eight deep,” said Baldinger.

“To go with Jermaine Johnson, Will McDonald in his second year, and of course Quinnen Williams and John Franklin-Myers. That group up front is going to get after the quarterback. It’s a pack of hungry wolves; there is no other way to describe it… this defense should carry this team.”

The analyst also said that he likes New York to win the division and “do a lot of damage in the AFC.” He ranked the Jets as the No. 3 team in the AFC behind Kansas City and Baltimore.

Baldinger’s analysis of the Jets is very sound and logical. Adding Reddick gives the defense another player in the “closer” mold that can help seal victories.

Reddick replaces Bryce Huff, who departed this offseason. While the Jets will miss Huff’s impact as a pass rusher, Reddick offers more experience, better sack production, and a more well-rounded game. Add in a lockdown secondary headlined by Sauce Gardner, D.J. Reed, and Micheal Carter II, and the defense could eclipse its production from the past two seasons.

The defense is expected to be productive, though. Ultimately, the Jets’ success in 2024 depends on their offense’s production and health.

If they don’t stay healthy on the offensive side of the ball, the Jets will likely not fulfill their potential, no matter how great their defense is.

But if the Jets’ offense can stay healthy and produce to their capabilities, the team can, as Baldinger said, win the AFC East and make noise in the conference this season.
