The New York Jets signed more undrafted free agents after rookie minicamp
The New York Jets are making moves after the completion of their rookie minicamp tryouts.
On Monday, the team signed quarterback Andrew Peasley, quarterback Colby Suits, and defensive back Brandon Codrington to deals. They also released quarterback PeeWee Jarrett, linebacker Tre Jenkins, and defensive lineman Manny Jones.
Suits’s agent, Nathan Shackelford, congratulated him on Twitter for signing with the team and spoke about why the Jets liked him.
“The Jets loved Colby’s size, arm, athleticism, and decision-making in mini-camp and wanted to make sure he stayed in New Jersey!”
Interestingly, the Jets now have five quarterbacks on their roster heading toward the team’s OTAs. Along with Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor, the team has added Florida State’s Jordan Travis, Peasley, and Suits.
Travis is recovering from injury, which would leave Peasley and Suits to battle for the remaining quarterback reps.
Over the course of his college career, Peasley racked up 4,372 passing yards in six seasons for Utah State and Wyoming. His best year came with the collegiate Cowboys in 2023 when he passed for 1,991 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Suits, in time with Louisiana Monroe and Houston Christian, amassed 3,686 yards and 22 touchdowns in five seasons. His best season was also in 2023 when he passed for 1,931 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Ultimately, these two players will likely not make the team’s 53-man roster and whose best chance is to make the practice squad. The addition of multiple quarterbacks is interesting, though, and is something to follow throughout the offseason.
