Aaron Rodgers is absent from the New York Jets’ mandatory minicamp
If you thought the New York Jets’ Haason Reddick drama was overblown, consider this one: Aaron Rodgers isn’t present at mandatory minicamp, either.
Cue the media: he’s a locker room cancer, a selfish teammate, the Jets are done, yada yada yada.
In truth, Robert Saleh expressed that Rodgers is attending an event that’s important to him and communicated this with the team a while ago, not just in the last few days.
Aaron Rodgers also is not attending minicamp. It is NOT excused, per Saleh. Therefore, he is subject to fine. Saleh said Rodgers had a previous engagement, an even that is "important to him." #Jets

This is the first time Rodgers has missed any part of the offseason program for the Jets. He attended all of OTAs, minicamp, and training camp in 2023 and was at the OTA program in 2024. For missing minicamp, Rodgers is subject to a $50,000 fine each day.
Saleh indicated that he thinks the reps in minicamp are more important for backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor than they would be for Rodgers. That being said, building chemistry between the receivers and the starting quarterback is critical, making Rodgers’ absence less than ideal.
Overall, though, this is merely an incidental blip on the radar screen. Reddick’s absence out of desire for a new contract is far more noteworthy than Rodgers’ for an event. Still, from a media that abhors Rodgers, it won’t be surprising to hear constant speculation over his demise.
