The Packers’ starting quarterback joked about Aaron Rodgers’s old house
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers recently joked about newly-extended Packers quarterback Jordan Love buying his old house. Based on Love’s response, it seems a quarterback-to-quarterback business transaction won’t be happening anytime soon.
Speaking with NFL Network in a clip shared on Saturday, Rodgers said, “I want to give a shoutout to Jordan Love becoming the highest-paid player in the NFL. Don’t spend it all in one place. But if you do, I still have a house in Green Bay that’s up for sale.”
On Sunday, Love responded, “A-Rod, I won’t be buying your house. But I’ll go check on it and make sure it’s well taken care of. If you want to hook me up with a deal, though, hometown discount?”

It is a funny interaction between two players who will always have their careers linked to each other. After selecting Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft, Rodgers proceeded to win back-to-back MVPs. This level of play allowed Love to develop at his own pace and take over for Rodgers in 2023 after he was traded to New York.
The Jets could learn a lot from how the Rodgers-Love situation unfolded. While New York should try to avoid cratering relationships, they should emulate how the Packers handle rookie quarterbacks. They are often uncompromising in their strategy, making their draft pick wait in the wings for multiple years.
It is a luxury to have a player like Rodgers ahead of Love, just as it was a luxury to have Brett Favre ahead of Aaron Rodgers. However, the essence of the strategy can be replicated by having a young quarterback sit for a year or two behind a veteran mentor.
Once Rodgers departs New York, the Jets will search for a new player to lead the franchise. By ensuring they give their next choice time to develop, the Jets may not miss on him as they did on previous quarterback selections.
