There is extreme disrespect for the New York Jets’ running back
Many New York Jets players have faced disrespect this offseason. From scouts and coaching calling Sauce Gardner the most overrated player in the league to leaving Quincy Williams off top-10 lists, there’s no shortage of motivation for the Jets on a personal level.
Among those disrespected the most is running back Breece Hall. NFL coaches and scouts seem to know how good he is, ranking him the No. 2 back in the game. The same cannot be said of laymen or his peers, though. Most recently, Madden 25 released their top 10 running backs, and Hall was not on the list.

Hall is also not on the NFL’s Top 100 list, another snub for the Jets’ dynamic running back.
Despite playing behind the NFL’s worst offensive line, Hall finished the 2023 season second among all running backs in scrimmage yards (1,585) and fourth in the NFL. He averaged 0.7 rush yards over expected per carry, ranked fifth among running backs.
Somehow, Nick Chubb ranked ahead of Hall despite his age (28) and injury status (coming off a torn ACL and MCL). The only players on Madden 25’s top-10 list with more yards per carry than Hall (4.5) were Christian McCaffrey (5.4) and Isiah Pacheco (4.6), and they played on Super Bowl teams with elite surrounding talent. Josh Jacobs (3.5), Saquon Barkley (3.9), and Kenneth Walker (3.8) didn’t even cross the 4.0 YPC threshold.
Hall beat most of the running backs ahead of him in advanced metrics, too. He’s also younger than most of them and has far more upside.
Despite the Jets’ early offensive scuffles in training camp, Hall has looked just as good as ever. From 2022-23, he averaged 6.1 yards per carry on plays with Alijah Vera-Tucker on the field, even with Vera-Tucker being the team’s one good run blocker on most of those plays. Now, with Tyron Smith, Morgan Moses, and John Simpson joining Vera-Tucker and Joe Tippmann, Hall has a chance to run behind five average or better run-blockers.
It’s difficult to fathom why Hall cannot garner respect among Madden evaluators or his peers. Considering how tuned in he is on social media, it’s likely that Hall is taking receipts.
