An anonymous NFL agent suggested that the New York Jets are in trouble… because of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Ben Standig of The Athletic spoke with 31 agents and surveyed their opinions on NFL teams. One agent sounded off on the Jets and Rodgers.

“There is complete disarray over there,” the anonymous agent told Standig. “Look at how they’ve handled Aaron Rodgers. Has one player had more power than him? He skipped minicamp. They have been unable to convert him into a team player. The vibe inside the building is terrible.”
Rodgers, 40, is entering his second season with New York. Despite his Hall of Fame talent coupled with an admirable return from injury, reports such as these can only be described as the norm for such a polarizing figure.
Countless media members and fans around the NFL are rooting for Rodgers to fail. The idea that yet another unnamed source is chiming in just before the season is neither surprising nor impactful.
In March 2023, ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported that Rodgers had a “wishlist” of players he wanted the Jets to acquire, including wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr., Allen Lazard, and Randall Cobb, as well as tight end Marcedes Lewis. Despite the Jets signing Cobb and Lazard, Rodgers dismissed the report as “ridiculous,” particularly regarding any hardline stances.
The 10-time Pro Bowler suffered a season-ending torn Achilles just four plays into the Jets 2023 season. Although he appeared in every Jets voluntary OTA session in the spring, Rodgers missed the team’s mandatory minicamp practices for a trip to Egypt, causing an explosion of controversy.
Interestingly, Standig’s report coincides with Joe Douglas’s media appearance in Florham Park, N.J. The Jets general manager praised Rodgers, saying, “He’s amazing.”
Whether or not a fan should believe in a report from an unnamed source is a legitimate question. It becomes even more convoluted when Mr. Aaron Rodgers is involved. Rodgers is known to hate anonymous reports, as he has been on the record saying, “At least put your name on it.”
However, this particular report was so laughable that several people, including Brian Costello of the New York Post, put out posts on X (formally known as Twitter) mocking the report. ‘Coz’ stated, “I will say the vibe inside the press room is terrible. Complete disarray.”
The Jets are currently enduring a 13-season playoff drought, the longest among the four major U.S. sports leagues. With the addition of wide receiver Mike Williams and three new starters on the offensive line, Rodgers will have a stronger supporting cast in 2024 than he did at the start of 2023.
The four-time NFL MVP aims to prove all critics by making the Jets contenders in the AFC.
