One of the most prominent sports media personalities has pledged to contribute to one key New York Jets player’s cause.
During his daily ESPN show, Pat McAfee pledged to match any donation made by Thomas Morstead for his “Punt for ALS” campaign. He also called Morstead “one of the best humans” in the NFL.

Morstead also spoke about his former teammate Steve Gleason, who is the inspiration behind the campaign this season.
“I think a lot of people know what ALS is now. Steve Gleason he’s been a big reason why so many people know about the disease now. I formed a relationship with him as a younger player; he would come to specialist dinners with John Carney, who he was buddies with. I’ve watched the transformation he has had to go through, just losing things constantly,” said Morstead.
“Losing the ability to walk and then eventually the ability to talk. A lot of people would have thrown in the towel, but he has continued to keep living. He has inspired many people and helped change laws so that insurance has to cover technology for people to communicate still and be human. At the core of it, I just wanted to do something to inspire him and encourage him for what he has done. It’s my small way of doing it.”
It is truly great to see Morstead continue his campaign and McAfee pledge a matching donation. Punt for ALS is a great cause and one that is worthy of so many people getting behind.
