During his postgame media availability, New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers revealed that he is dealing with a low ankle sprain and is a bit banged up.

“I’m definitely banged up. I got my foot caught on a pile there. But it just seems to be a low ankle sprain. Again, they were trying to get me in the tent, and then we had a roughing the kicker, so I said, screw it, I’m going back out there.”

Rodgers also spoke about the team’s slow offensive starts in the 2024 season.

“Credit to [defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich] and those boys over there. My guy BE [Brandin Echols] came up with another big-time pick that we turned into points. So they kept us in the game, and we kind of did just enough. But we need to be playing from the lead. So we’ve got to start faster. We say it every week: What’s the magic recipe for that? We will spend some time this week trying to figure that out.”

Additionally, Rodgers said the offense is “not playing up to their potential” so far this season.

“Too many mistakes. You know, I thought until now, I think we’ve only had two turnovers, which was good, because you give yourselves a chance. But we’re slow starters. There are too many mental errors. There are just too many mistakes in general. That’s hard to overcome, and then you know, I’ve got to take care of the football. Can’t turn the ball over three times and win in this league.”

The star quarterback gave his thoughts on the state of the team’s rushing attack.

“We’ve got to figure out exactly what our best runs are based on the first five games now. We’ve tried to establish the run in most of these games early. And sometimes you’ve got to switch it up and maybe throw it to establish the run.”

At the end of the day, the Jets have the talent to be a successful offense. But between countless self-inflicted mistakes, poor personnel usage, and questionable play-calling, they are nowhere close to their ceiling.

A pivotal matchup with the Bills on Monday Night Football awaits in Week 6. The Jets’ offense needs to make some key adjustments or it will be another ugly day.
