Following the New York Jets’ tough 23-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, former WFAN radio host Mike Francesa launched a fiery tirade on his podcast, insisting that the time has come to let go of head coach Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.
โIt all leads to the same place. You put the offense in the hands of a man [Hackett] who is completely inept,โ Francesa said. โI know that despite his lousy record and despite the fact that he has taken this team right down the chute, you can just see it. And Iโm telling you, if I were the owner, Saleh wouldnโt be the coach anymore. In-season. I canโt look at it anymore. I just canโt watch the same garbage week in and week out.
โI wouldnโt touch the defensive coordinator [Jeff Ulbrich], I wouldnโt touch his staff, but I would get rid of Saleh โcause heโs not a head coach anyway. If he wants to be a defensive coordinator, he can stay. He canโt be the head coach; he canโt run the team.”

Francesa proceeded to explain why he feels the Jets would benefit from firing Hackett and Saleh in-season.
โBecause there has to be a new order for this team, there has to be an accountability for this team, and I would immediately fire the offensive coordinator. Immediately.
โGoodbye! Enough already. I donโt care what Rodgers would say. Oh really? You like throwing three interceptions? You like getting hit on every play-action fake? You like the fact that your career isnโt gonna look like the same career if you keep this guy? Youโre out. Iโm making the decision, and youโre not.โ
The longtime WFAN radio host stated that he believes the Jets should ask for Rodgers’ input on how the replacements should be.
The Jets fell to 2-3 on the season with their loss in London. They aim to silence Francesa and the rest of their critics this Monday as they travel back home to host Josh Allen and the division rival Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football, a game that will determine first place in the AFC East after six weeks.
