Following the New York Jets’ tough 23-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, former WFAN radio host Mike Francesa launched a fiery tirade on his podcast, insisting that the time has come to let go of head coach Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

โ€œIt all leads to the same place. You put the offense in the hands of a man [Hackett] who is completely inept,โ€ Francesa said. โ€œI know that despite his lousy record and despite the fact that he has taken this team right down the chute, you can just see it. And Iโ€™m telling you, if I were the owner, Saleh wouldnโ€™t be the coach anymore. In-season. I canโ€™t look at it anymore. I just canโ€™t watch the same garbage week in and week out.

โ€œI wouldnโ€™t touch the defensive coordinator [Jeff Ulbrich], I wouldnโ€™t touch his staff, but I would get rid of Saleh โ€™cause heโ€™s not a head coach anyway. If he wants to be a defensive coordinator, he can stay. He canโ€™t be the head coach; he canโ€™t run the team.”

Francesa proceeded to explain why he feels the Jets would benefit from firing Hackett and Saleh in-season.

โ€œBecause there has to be a new order for this team, there has to be an accountability for this team, and I would immediately fire the offensive coordinator. Immediately.

โ€œGoodbye! Enough already. I donโ€™t care what Rodgers would say. Oh really? You like throwing three interceptions? You like getting hit on every play-action fake? You like the fact that your career isnโ€™t gonna look like the same career if you keep this guy? Youโ€™re out. Iโ€™m making the decision, and youโ€™re not.โ€

The longtime WFAN radio host stated that he believes the Jets should ask for Rodgers’ input on how the replacements should be.

โ€œI would listen to Rodgers on who he wanted, and if we could agree on a guy whoโ€™s available, Iโ€™d go get him. If not, I would go get Frank Reich tomorrow and put him in charge of the offense,โ€ Francesa concluded.

The Jets fell to 2-3 on the season with their loss in London. They aim to silence Francesa and the rest of their critics this Monday as they travel back home to host Josh Allen and the division rival Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football, a game that will determine first place in the AFC East after six weeks.
