Aaron Rodgers addressed some important topics about his future with the New York Jets during his weekly media availability.
Asked about the prospect of proving himself worthy to stay with the Jets in these last five games, Rodgers called the premise “ridiculous.”
“If they want me to stay, fantastic. If it takes these five games, maybe they do not know what I bring to the table. That being said, I would like to play really well these last five games.”

Asked to elaborate on his comment about playing all 17 games this season, Rodgers said that “the most important ability you can have is availability.”
“I love to play in the games, and I love playing football. I am hyper-competitive, and I love being out there with the guys.
Rodgers also elaborated on his supportive ownership comment from the “Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday, giving cryptic but potentially revealing answers.
“Is that a rhetorical question? I cited an example I’ve seen. There were other examples in Green Bay, both for and maybe not as for whoever was in charge. But I think it’s an important part of ownership to hire the right guys, set the vision, and support them when the outside world is trying to tear them down.”
When asked if that applies to the Jets, Rodgers first said, “I’d have to look. I’ll ask you guys, has there been a lot of public comments? Supportive comments?” When told there had been firings, Rodgers said, “Yeah, there’s your answer.”
The quarterback also spoke about his injuries, saying that there are no excuses and that “if I am out on the field, I expect to play well.”
Rodgers also elaborated on how he views what could happen after the season ends.
“I just redid my house here in Jersey. My goal was to play a few more years here. I’d like to be healthy, end on my feet, play well, and feel like I’m wanted back. If not, I will not be offended, I won’t be upset. I will be so thankful either way with what happens here,” said Rodgers.
“I have to be healthy, mentally and physically. There has to be interest on both sides. And if that’s not the case, I’ll look at other options. But first, I’ll actually think about if I want to play or not… we will see what happens.”
It seems that, for better and for worse, everything is on the table for Rodgers. He does not know what his future holds, and at this point, neither do the Jets. It has been a trying year for both parties, resulting in an interesting situation moving forward.
Regardless of how one views the situation, it seems that the picture will become much clearer after the end of the regular season. As a result, these last five games can potentially dictate some critical decisions for the New York Jets and Rodgers.
