Davante Adams agrees with Garrett Wilson’s comments that there is an aspect of losing embedded into the New York Jets organization.
Appearing on “Up and Adams,” Adams spoke about Wilson’s postgame quote, in which he said the Jets seem to have a “losing gene.”

“In some ways, it’s true. Gene, culture, whatever word you want to plug in there. It’s the same idea. Obviously, this team has not made the playoffs for 14 straight years. You gotta have the right people, whether it’s in the front office or in the locker room,” said Adams.
“You have to have enough people that have won those games and know how to finish those games. You have to have it in the building. It’s not in this building to finish out games historically the way it takes to be a good team in this league.”
As pointed as the comment from Adams may seem, it is not incorrect.
Under this regime, and well before them, the Jets have struggled to close out and win games consistently. They have blown leads in crazy, wacky, and borderline unbelievable ways. And even when the team has been at its best, losses have still been the end result.
All the losses have evidently affected the players and the organization. Instead of expecting to win, they expect to lose games when the going gets tough or crunch time arrives. The Jets’ mentality as a whole has been drastically affected by their historic losing ways.
Fixing these issues will take hard work and time. However, as Adams said, those results will only occur with the right people who know how to win games. Until then, the Jets will likely deal with similar issues.
