One of the age-old questions New York Jets fans are sick of being asked year after year is: Do wins matter in an already lost season?
That answer and more will be answered by Jets legend Wayne Chrebet tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET. Check out the next live edition of “The Underdog Jets Podcast” with Chrebet and Robby Sabo, and ask any question along the way in real-time (live-stream video can be clicked on above).
Of course, winning matters for those who usually ride the tank train. It provides the opposite impact the tank believers are eyeing. For many others, however, winning is winning, and the organization has lost so frequently in the last 14 seasons that any win is a major victory—if only for that day.
Therefore, the Jets’ 32-25 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars this past Sunday did the trick for the “win no matter what” crowd. Plus, no matter who has already checked out, it quickly became clear that quarterback Aaron Rodgers, wide receiver Davante Adams, and many other Jets still very much care about the results.
But is that the unanimous feeling?
Granted, although each NFL game is precious—mainly due to the low quantity that, in turn, creates a major bang-for-buck feeling for all involved—some players will subconsciously “check out” just a bit. It’s simply a matter of human nature.
However, the question is, just how important is it to win games down the stretch in an already-lost season? No matter where a fan stands on the topic, that lingering question remains unanswered.
New York Jets legend Wayne Chrebet weighs in to help provide answers to that question. He also breaks down the Jets-Jags game, specifically the fantastic day Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson had.
Sure, the Jets’ 4-10 record means they’re going nowhere this year, but how far can winning games down the stretch carry them into the offseason and beyond?
