On Friday, the Associated Press unveiled its 2024 NFL All-Pro teams. To the shock of nobody, the New York Jets were nowhere to be found.
It marks the first time since 2020 that New York did not have any players named to either the first or second-team. The Jets had the following All-Pros over the previous three seasons:
- 2023: LB Quincy Williams (first-team), CB Sauce Gardner (first-team)
- 2022: DT Quinnen Williams (first-team), CB Sauce Gardner (first-team), LB C.J. Mosley (second-team)
- 2021: KR Braxton Berrios (first-team)
While no Jets players made the All-Pro teams this year, four players received votes.
The Jets’ starting linebacker duo garnered minor attention. Quincy Williams received one first-place vote at linebacker, placing him 17th in the voting at the position. Jamien Sherwood received one second-place vote, tying him for 19th.
Despite a down year, Sauce Gardner still appeared on the ballot with one second-place vote.
Long snapper Thomas Hennessy received one first-place vote, tying him for 12th at the position. Hennessy, who just completed his eighth consecutive season as the Jets’ long snapper, continues to seek his first Pro Bowl or All-Pro appearance.
The Duke product has been a rare mainstay for the fledgling New York Jets organization. Hennessy has played 132 consecutive games and established himself as one of the league’s most consistent long snappers, registering a special teams grade of 74-plus at Pro Football Focus in six of the past seven seasons.
In 2024, Hennessy ranked eighth-best at his position with a 74.5 grade. He provided consistently accurate snapping while also contributing two tackles in coverage; additionally, he was credited with zero missed tackles.
Numerous talented Jets players were absent from the ballot after either making the All-Pro team or receiving votes in prior seasons. Quinnen Williams did not receive any votes for the first time since 2021, while Davante Adams last received zero votes in 2019. Michael Carter II placed sixth in the voting among slot cornerbacks in 2023, while Garrett Wilson received one second-place vote and Breece Hall received two. Tyron Smith was a second-team All-Pro for Dallas in 2023.
It says a lot about your season when the closest player to earning an All-Pro appearance was the long snapper. Hennessy remains a model of consistency for New York, but the Jets need their marquee players to perform closer to their ceilings in 2025.
