This take from one of Aaron Rodgers’ former backups is flat-out crazy.

Replying to a post on X polling fans about New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson’s projected wide receiver ranking by the end of the 2025 season, former NFL quarterback Kurt Benkert labeled Wilson a top “45” player at the position.

The former Green Bay Packers quarterback doubled down on his scorching hot take.

In reply to a post asking if the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs would swap Xaiver Worthy or Khalil Shakir for Wilson, Benkert wrote, “Nope. They wouldn’t.”

There is simply no way to provide supporting evidence to this argument.

Wilson, 24, eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards in each of his three NFL seasons despite catching passes from eight different quarterbacks. Since 2022, he ranks 10th among wide receivers in receiving yards (3,249) and seventh in receptions (270). Yet, he is only a top-45 wide receiver, according to Benkert.

Wilson has significantly outplayed Shakir and Worthy. Shakir, who has been in the league as long as Wilson, has fewer than half as many receiving yards (1,593) despite catching passes from reigning MVP Josh Allen. Meanwhile, Worthy, coming off his rookie season, impressed but still managed only 638 receiving yards despite having Patrick Mahomes as his quarterback.

Jets fans can brush aside Benkert’s comments, which may be coming from a biased perspective. Benkert was Aaron Rodgers’ teammate with the Green Bay Packers in 2021 and often defends him on social media. Considering the reports that Rodgers and Wilson had a strained relationship with the Jets, bias should undoubtedly be considered with Benkert’s remarks about the star wideout.
