One of the biggest wild cards for the New York Jets ahead of the 2025 season is quarterback Jordan Travis.

With a regime in place that didn’t draft the signal caller, what will Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey decide to do with the former Seminole?

Speaking to reporters at the NFL owners meetings in Palm Beach, Florida, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn revealed the Jets will give Travis an opportunity to compete once he is cleared to play.

“If he’s ready to play, he’s gonna compete,” said Glenn. “From his days in college I think he was a pretty damn good player, so once he gets cleared, he’s gonna get a chance to compete.”

When asked when Travis is expected to return, Glenn was non-committal.

“Well, I’m not a doctor. So I can’t tell you that,” responded Glenn.

Travis, 24, was selected by the Jets in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL draft. While many understood the FSU product would be a project, he had the potential to develop into a competent quarterback at the NFL level if given time to sit and learn.

Travis was having a highly impressive 2023 campaign before suffering a season-ending ankle injury in November, ending his season. He led FSU to an undefeated record, completing 63.9% of his passes for 2,756 yards, 20 touchdowns, and two interceptions, adding seven rushing touchdowns.

Former interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich revealed in November that Travis had suffered additional setbacks. Travis’ agent, Deiric Jackson, later told ESPN’s Rich Cimini that the Jets tried to rush Travis back on the field, which led to further setbacks. This prompted the quarterback to remove the Jets from his social media bios.

Despite the 24-year-old’s previous remarks, Glenn indicated Travis will have a chance to compete at the quarterback position this season if he’s ready.
