Reporting from Florham Park, NJ—The 2025 NFL draft is over for the New York Jets, and they have come away with some very talented individuals at key needs along the roster.
From quality players on the offensive side of the ball to start, to depth pieces on the defensive end later on, New York came away with players in each round who can impact the team moving forward.
Let’s officially meet the 2025 draft class.
The Jets drafted seven players
Unless unexpected late movement occurs, the New York Jets drafted seven players. Their last pick happened quicker than anybody thought it would, too, courtesy of a trade with the Baltimore Ravens.
Now that Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey have come down to speak to the media, it’s safe to assume these six players are the entirety of the Jets’ 2025 draft class.
Round 1 (7th Overall): Armand Membou, RT, Missouri
Armand Membou was the top right tackle prospect in the draft class and landed with the Jets at a perfect spot. With this selection, New York has solidified the offensive line in a significant way and should have one of the better groups in the NFL moving forward.
Round 2 (42nd Overall): Mason Taylor, TE, LSU
The son of Hall-of-Fame edge rusher Jason Taylor, Mason Taylor, set tight end school records at LSU over the last three seasons and should immediately impact the Jets’ passing offense.
Justin Fields targets tight ends over 20% of the time, so this was a bigger need than many realized. They came away with one of the better players in the draft at the position.
Round 3 (73rd Overall): Azareye’h Thomas, CB, FSU
Few cornerbacks in the 2025 class were as talented as Azareye’h Thomas regarding press coverage.
He’s a physical player who fits well in the kind of defensive scheme that Aaron Glenn wants to run with the Jets, and that’s exactly why New York scooped him up in Round 3.
It will be interesting to see what kind of role he will have.
Round 4 (110th Overall): Arian Smith, WR, Georgia
Arian Smith led Georgia in receiving yards last season and has blazing speed that is tantalizing for any organization needing a deep threat like the Jets. Smith’s big problem is drops, for which he accumulated 10 last season—most of any Power Four school.
If he can fix that, he can make an immediate impact for New York and treat Glenn right for taking the chance on him at No. 110.
Round 4 (130th Overall): Malachi Moore, S, Alabama
Malachi Moore has played every role in the secondary, including being an in-the-box safety, nickel, and in the free spot. That versatility is something Glenn and the Jets have always pushed for at this point.
The No. 130 overall selection is also a ball hawk who should immediately compete for playing time.
Round 5 (pick 162): Francisco Mauigoa, LB, Miami
Francisco Mauigoa is an athletic freak who had a great forty-yard time. He has dealt with multiple injuries over his career, but led the Hurricanes in tackles with 96 last season.
Mauigoa should be a solid special-teams player for New York this season. At the very least, he’s certain to be one of two drafted rookie Hurricanes on the roster …
Round 5 (pick 176): Tyler Baron, EDGE, Miami
New York moved up for a player from Miami for the second straight pick. Tyler Baron is a quality edge rusher with 11 tackles for loss last season and recorded over 19 sacks with the Hurricanes and Tennessee over his college career.
He should be a role player for the team moving forward. New York traded with Baltimore to grab Baron.
