The NFL world has already seen one head coach fired before the midway point of the 2025 season. Could Aaron Glenn be next with the New York Jets?

Bill Callahan, formerly of the Tennessee Titans, was relieved of his duties Monday afternoon following an abysmal 4-19 record through the first year and a half in Nashville.

As much as Jets fans may want to compare the situation with the Titans to their hometown team, Callahan was in a much different situation than Glenn.

At the top of the list of differences is that Glenn still has the support of ownership.

As a former player when Woody Johnson first bought the team, the cornerback-turned-coach continues to have the ear of the executive office in Florham Park. An 0-6 record isnโ€™t going to change that.

Glenn opens up on owner relationship

Speaking to reporters Monday morning after a frustrating 13-11 loss to the Denver Broncos, Glenn explained that while no one is happy with the teamโ€™s current play, there isnโ€™t any concern regarding his job status at this time.

โ€œMe and Woody (Johnson) have had really good conversations, and he understands everything that we’re trying to do,โ€ Glenn said. โ€œObviously, everybody wants to make sure they have a winning record, but here’s the thing that was not heard from the very beginning: we’re not talking about the Super Bowl.

โ€œWe’re trying to build a foundation of making sure we win consistently. And how do you do that? You can’t just throw things out there and just have an unstable foundation, expecting for things to be just right.โ€

Glenn has been consistent in his approach that his tenure was never going to be an immediate fix. New York hasnโ€™t recorded an above-.500 record in 10 years and hasnโ€™t made the playoffs in the last 14 seasons.

There was always a lot to fix within the organization. Few thought the team would be as bad as it is, though.

Despite all the concerning talk and growing frustration among the players, Glenn isnโ€™t giving up on his belief to fix Gang Green in 2025 and beyond.

Jets double down on mindset

Is it confidence or insanity to see the same results every week but continue to remain confident in yourself, the roster you helped build, or the coaches you hired?

For Glenn, itโ€™s all about confidence. Results be damned.

โ€œI know everybody wants to win, but nobody wants to go through the hard stuff, and that’s what we’re going through right now,โ€ he explained. โ€œWe’re going through the hard times to put ourselves in positions to win.

โ€œI have all the confidence in the world in this team, I have all the confidence in the world in these coaches, I have confidence in myself, and I’m not going to waver not one bit.โ€

After a year in which Johnson fired his head coach five games into the season, expectations have changed in Florham Park. Glennโ€™s confidence and infectious personality have bought him time to build a team from the ground up.

The results havenโ€™t been there. But the coach, and his owner, clearly believe the foundation is being built for future success.
