Leading up to the New York Jets’ Week 10 clash against the Cleveland Browns, linebacker Quincy Williams had a whirlwind of a week.

With his brother, Quinnen, getting shipped off to the Dallas Cowboys ahead of the NFL trade deadline, while learning the next day that he had lost his starting role, it certainly wasn’t an easy week for the linebacker.

However, his incredible performance in New York’s win on Sunday helped flip that script.

Speaking to reporters after Gang Green’s 27-20 home victory, Williams viewed his impact on the game as a “statement” and a “reminder” to the Jets organization of who he is.

Williams registered five tackles and one sack while allowing three of four passes thrown his way to be completed for just five yards, holding Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel to a 77.1 passer rating when he was the nearest defender, turning in his strongest performance in the green and white this season.

Following his sack, he paid tribute to his brother, who was traded to the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday, by performing his brotherโ€™s signature sack celebration.

“I love my brother, man. It wasn’t planned,” Williams told reporters regarding his impromptu sack celebration to honor his brother. When I got the sack, the first thing that came to my mind was ‘dang, I want to celebrate with my brother.’ It felt good.”

For Williams, Sundayโ€™s performance carried extra weight. After a week where he had to prove who he is, without his brother and without his starting job, he delivered in every way.
