Perhaps it’s not so “bogus” after all?
Despite New York Jets owner Woody Johnson’s successful push to end the NFL Players Association’s annual team report cards, the survey still ran for the 2025 season. While those results were not made public by the NFLPA, as they were in recent years, ESPN has obtained and published them.
Based on the results, perhaps Johnson will have second thoughts about his criticism of the survey.
Johnson’s frustration arose after the Jets received a 32nd-ranked “F” grade for “ownership” in 2025, on the heels of the 2024 season. Overall, the Jets were the 29th-ranked team across 11 categories, which ranged from the head coach to the nutritionist and dietician.
This year’s survey tells a different story.
Here are the Jets’ 2026 NFLPA survey grades in each category, per ESPN:
- Treatment of Families: B+
- Home Game Field: F-
- Food/Dining Area: B
- Nutritionist/Dietician: A
- Locker Room: A-
- Training Room: B
- Training Staff: B+
- Weight Room: B+
- Strength Coaches: A
- Position Coaches: B
- Offensive Coordinator: B-
- Defensive Coordinator: B+
- Special Teams Coordinator: A
- Team Travel: B+
- Head Coach: A
- General Manager: A-
- Team Ownership: B
- Overall Rank: 18th
Besides the players’ unequivocal disdain for MetLife Stadium, the franchise fared quite well across the board, receiving no less than a B- in any other category. Their overall rank was 18th, an 11-spot jump compared to the previous year.
Somehow, Johnson (“team ownership”) skyrocketed from an F to a B in the matter of one year. However, Johnson received a B- grade in the 2024 edition, so it’s possible that his F grade in 2025 is the real outlier here. Players may have (justifiably) cast their votes in response to the negative drama that shrouded Johnson and the team throughout the reality show known as the 2024 season.
It is also worth noting that the players surveyed were extremely fond of head coach Aaron Glenn, giving him an A grade. This tied Glenn for the third-best grade among all head coaches, joining Ben Johnson, Dan Campbell, Andy Reid, Kevin O’Connell, Mike Vrabel, Nick Sirianni, Mike Tomlin, and Mike Macdonald. Sean McVay and Dan Quinn were the only coaches to receive A+ grades.
It has yet to translate into any sort of meaningful progress on the football field, but there seems to be some early progress in the Jets’ building on a cultural level. The ironic part is that if Johnson had his way, Jets fans wouldn’t get to hear about it.
