Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson only started one season in college. But that’s all we needed to see the highest of highs and the lowest of lows that a young signal-caller could offer.

Five games in, Simpson had completed over 70 percent of his passes for 9.4 yards per attempt, 15 total touchdowns, and one turnover. Simpson and Fernando Mendoza were neck-and-neck in the battle for the first overall pick.

Then, a rough mid-season stretch happened. Over his next five games, Simpson dropped to a 63.9% completion rate, while his yards per attempt dropped to 7.3. He did throw nine touchdowns to one interception, though.

Finally, Simpson’s stock came crashing down with a brutal final five games. He completed just 58.5% of his passes for an ugly 5.8 yards per attempt, while tossing six touchdowns to three interceptions.

A 38-3 loss to Mendoza’s Hoosiers in the Rose Bowl was the exclamation point on Simpson’s descent from a potential No. 1 overall pick to someone who many believe is a second-round pick at best.

The numbers are daunting. But what does the film say?

We already broke down the film from Simpson’s first five games and middle five games to figure out whether the numbers were telling the true story.

Now, we turn our attention to Simpson’s highly scrutinized final five games. Was Simpson as bad as the numbers and critics claim? Or was he hung out to dry by a poor supporting cast? And how much did his nagging injuries affect him?

On the latest episode of Blewett’s Blitz, we break down the All-22 film from the final stretch of Simpson’s 2025 season, seeking to identify whether he really did show enough red flags to deter the New York Jets from drafting him.

Below is the full Ty Simpson scouting report (strengths and weaknesses across his entire 2025 season) and film review.
