“Look good, feel good, play good.” Many attribute that line of thinking to the Atlanta Falcons version of Deion Sanders, yet the same folks who credit Primetime also realize countless athletes believe in the mantra.

Uniform numbers naturally contribute to this philosophy, which means New York Jets players are not exempt. The latest on this front comes from wide receiver Malachi Corley and EDGE Will McDonald, who have changed their numbers.

Corley, 23, changed his uniform to No. 6 (it was previously No. 17), as confirmed by his Instagram account and the Jets’ official X (formerly Twitter) account.

Also confirmed by the Jets were two other uniform changes.

McDonald, 25, moves from No. 99 to No. 9, the digit he donned in college for Iowa State. The Jets’ third-year defensive end could not wear the single-digit number the last two seasons, thanks to kicker Greg Zuerlein holding it down.

Despite the more relaxed rules, defensive linemen can only wear numbers between 50 and 79, and 90-99. Technically speaking, however, McDonald is listed as a linebacker on the Jets roster (similar to Jermaine Johnson and Bryce Huff when he was here).

Speaking of kickers, similar to how McDonald is taking advantage of the Zuerlein cut, Corley is doing the same. His move to No. 6 was made possible by Aaron Glenn and company releasing veteran punter Thomas Morstead.

Xavier Gipson’s move from No. 82 to No. 3 is the third confirmation the Jets provided on Monday, but we knew about that one for some time now.

Discussing New York Jets uniform numbers is all well and good, but fans only care about on-field success at the end of the day. If the 2025 Jets show fans that this new regime has the goods, players can change numbers all they want.
