New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold finally breaks out at training camp on the same day the reinforcements arrive.
Suddenly, Sam Darnold looks tremendous. A Wednesday practice in Florham Park featured the New York Jets young quarterback slinging it no matter who the intended target was on a specific play.
Jamison Crowder, Chris Hogan and Chris Herndon all returned to practice after exiting early Tuesday, but it was Jehu Chesson and Donte Moncrief who took a part-time starring role on this day.
Darnold hit Moncrief on a 50-plus-yard 9-route down the left sideline early in practice against Blessuan Austin. Facing single-high, Darnold did not hesitate to target the one-on-one coverage down the field and along the sideline.
He did the same thing later in practice when he hit Chesson down the left sideline as well. Both throws were a little bit behind and to the sideline—a perfect spot for the receiver to adjust and make the grab.
Instead of indecisiveness while throwing it to the outlets, Darnold was decisive and confident when throwing the ball on this day.
Elsewhere, the reinforcements did arrive. In addition to Crowder, Hogan and Herndon, Denzel Mims and Jabari Zuniga also returned to practice (positionals). Lawrence Cager returned as well and even took part in teams.
After practice, Mims proclaimed that he believes he will be ready for Week 1 when the Jets visit Buffalo.
Finally, young Ashtyn Davis revealed the fact that he’s living in Northern New Jersey without a vehicle. Don’t worry, though, he does live close to the facility.
