Braxton Berrios has agreed to re-sign with the New York Jets

Breathe, New York Jets fans – he’s back.

Wide receiver and All-Pro kickoff returner Braxton Berrios has agreed to re-sign with the Jets on a two-year, $12 million deal with $7 million guaranteed, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Berrios himself confirmed the news via Twitter.

Zach Wilson is ready to run it back with one of his favorite rookie-year targets.

The Miami (FL) product is coming off a career year in which he established himself as a fan-favorite in New York.

Berrios led the NFL with an average of 30.4 yards per kickoff return and was named a First-Team All-Pro for his efforts. As a wide receiver, Berrios became a reliable target down the stretch as injuries forced him into a featured role.

Over his final four games, Berrios racked up 205 yards from scrimmage (180 receiving, 25 rushing) and three touchdowns (1 receiving, 2 rushing) while also scoring a kickoff return touchdown. He caught 69.0% of his targets over this span (20 receptions on 29 targets).

On the year, Berrios dropped only one pass and caught five of his six “contested” targets, per Pro Football Focus, establishing himself as one of the most sure-handed wide receivers in the NFL.

Berrios joins Laken Tomlinson as one of the two offensive free-agent signings the Jets have made since the NFL’s legal tampering period opened at 12 p.m. ET. New York agreed to sign the former San Francisco 49ers guard to a three-year deal worth $40 million, with $27 million of that total guaranteed.

New York entered free agency with $35.38 million in effective cap space, per Over The Cap, which accounts for the amount of room that the team needs to leave open to sign its draft class. Year-one cap numbers are yet to be revealed for Berrios and Tomlinson, but one would assume that the Jets have already eaten into a decent chunk of that money.
