NY Jets training camp opens Tuesday, July 19 with rookies reporting
The New York Jets announced the dates for seven open training camp practices today.
Fans will be allowed into the Atlantic Health Training Center on the following dates:
- Saturday, July 30
- Tuesday, August 2
- Saturday, August 6 (Green & White Scrimmage at MetLife Stadium)
- Monday, August 8
- Sunday, August 14
- Friday, August 19
- Saturday, August 20
The news is welcome during the dead time of the NFL offseason between mandatory minicamp and the start of training camp. Things begin for the Jets in one week, as their rookies report for camp on July 19.
Jets fans are eager to see how practices shake out, including some of the top position battles and the status of the players returning from injury.
Mekhi Becton, the biggest story of the Jets offseason so far, will be reporting to camp on July 26. Fans have the opportunity to see his weight and conditioning for themselves instead of relying on hearsay and pictures.
At the center of it all will be Zach Wilson, fresh off the relationship drama that has captivated Jets Twitter. Wilson will vie to silence doubters and show that he can be consistent on short throws, maintain his footwork, and be confident in his decision-making.
Other storylines to follow include players battling for a roster spot, such as Lawrence Cager, DQ Thomas, Nick Bawden, and Zonovan Knight.
Above all else, fans pray that no major injuries come out of training camp, as the devastating Carl Lawson Achilles rupture did last season.
Tickets to the seven open practices will be available on the Jets’ website starting on Thursday, July 14.
The first Jets preseason game is on Friday, August 12 at Philadelphia, with kickoff slated for 7:30 PM.
