The New York Jets’ Sunday victory was special in more ways than one

Green Bay was no match for Gang Green on Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field.

Behind a dominant effort on both defense and special teams, the New York Jets pulled away from the Green Bay Packers, bringing home a 27-10 victory. With their third win in a row, the Jets (4-2) are now multiple games over .500 for the first time since the end of the 2015-16 regular season.

The teams engaged in a defensive struggle over the first half-hour of game time. The highlights were mostly relegated to a Quinnen Williams showcase, an exhibition that featured a sack of Aaron Rodgers and a blocked field goal on Green Bay’s first attempt at points at the onset of the second quarter.

With the defense keeping them afloat for the majority of the game, the offense finally returned the favor when Braxton Berrios scored a rushing touchdown for the second consecutive weekend. The 20-yard tally was secured by a crucial Duane Brown block downfield and a lead block by C.J. Uzomah. They then wasted no time getting back on the board to establish a two-possession lead, with Micheal Clemons blocking a punt that Will Parks took the distance for a touchdown and a 17-3 advantage.

Green Bay briefly broke through the Jets’ defensive dominance when Aaron Rodgers found Allen Lazard from 25 yards out. It was one of the few highlights for Rodgers, who struggled with a finger injury sustained in last week’s loss to the New York Giants.

It took only five plays for the Jets to permanently get the momentum back, as their 66-yard drive was capped off by Breece Hall‘s 34-yard tally up the middle. Hall reached triple figures in yards from scrimmage for the second consecutive game, earning 116 on 20 carries. A short boot from Greg Zuerlein secured the game and created the final margin.

The Jets will move to the Rockies next weekend, battling the reeling Denver Broncos on Sunday late afternoon (4:05 p.m. ET, CBS).
