Reviewing the film from New York Jets’ win over Denver: Defensive dominance, offensive line woes, QB struggles, and more

Coming off a blowout win at Lambeau Field against the Packers, the New York Jets had another tough road game in Mile High against the Denver Broncos.

Denver has been a house of horrors for the Jets. Just last year, they lost a laughable 26-0 shutout in Denver.

While the Broncos were struggling prior to their Week 7 matchup with the Jets, Denver is still a tough environment to play in – especially when you consider this Broncos team has one of the NFL’s best defenses, which keeps them in every game they play.

The Jets looked to continue their “road warrior” mantra, attempting to leave Mile High with a 4-0 road record; no easy feat.

Fast forward to the end of the game. If I were to tell you Zach Wilson passed for only 121 yards, the Jets were to lose their two best offensive players in Alijah Vera-Tucker and Breece Hall, and they had 11 penalties… would you think they were going to win the game? Probably not.

But New York pulled it off, snagging a 16-9 win on the strength of a dominant defensive performance. The Jets’ best players led the way, namely Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams, but it was an all-around team effort by the defense as they held Denver in check all afternoon.

A wise man once said, “A win is a win”. This was surely an ugly one. Fortunately, the NFL standings don’t show how pretty a win is.

The Jets of the past would lose this game, regardless of who was lined up at QB for the Denver Broncos. But these Jets, even in ugly fashion, seem to be turning a new leaf.

We break down everything that happened on both sides of the football in the latest Blewett’s Blitz film review.

  • How did the Jets pull it off?
  • Just how much did Zach Wilson struggle?
  • What lead to the pass protection problems?
  • Was the CB duo of Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed really that elite?

All of that and much more is broken down on this edition of Blewett’s Blitz!
