NY Jets-Bills game not flexed—but not for the reason you think

The Jets’ Sunday Night Football drought continues

As Jet X writer Geoff Magliocchetti recently predicted, the New York Jets’ critical tilt with the Buffalo Bills in Week 14 is, indeed, staying put at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.

The last time the Jets played on NBC’s Sunday Night Football was in 2011 when the Patriots got the best of the Jets, 37-16, in a rematch of the Jets’ upset of New England in the AFC Divisional Round the year prior.

Since then, all the Jets have known is being flexed out of primetime, rather like the Denver Broncos are starting to this year.

However, this one is different, as reported by SNY’s Connor Hughes.

In other words, CBS refused to give up the Jets-Bills game to NBC. That would tend to indicate it will draw CBS’s top broadcast pairing in Jim Nantz and Tony Romo.

This is quite a turnaround for Gang Green. Their relevance this season makes them an attractive draw. The frenzy surrounding Mike White doesn’t hurt matters, and visible stars like Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson are exciting for the nation to view. No network wants to give up the Kings of New York (sorry, Giants).

It is still possible that other Jets games this season are flexed. The Geno Smith revenge game could definitely draw eyes, and the regular-season finale in Miami could be a playoff determinant or preview.

It’s always nice to be wanted.
