Allen Lazard will be rocking new digits for the New York Jets
Allen Lazard donned a No. 13 jersey for the Green Bay Packers throughout his five years in Wisconsin. However, upon joining the New York Jets, Lazard would be forced to choose a new number, as the Jets have retired the No. 13 jersey in honor of legendary receiver Don Maynard.
On Monday, various Jets players reported to Florham Park for the team’s voluntary offseason program, including Lazard. Through a snapshot shared on Instagram, Lazard revealed the new number he will be wearing with the Jets: 10.

These numbers are subject to change prior to the season. Jets fans will remember that in 2022, free agent cornerback D.J. Reed initially chose the No. 1 jersey upon joining New York, but he later gave the number to rookie cornerback Sauce Gardner in exchange for a nice chunk of change. Reed switched to No. 4.
If he sticks with it, this would be the first time Lazard has worn No. 10 in his football career. Lazard wore No. 5 throughout both his college career at Iowa State and his high school career in Urbandale, Iowa.
The Jets’ No. 5 jersey is available, as its previous wearer, Mike White, signed with the Miami Dolphins in free agency. So, it appears Lazard decided to pass on No. 5 in favor of something new.
Settling in at his new No. 10 locker for the first time should bring some positivity to Lazard’s day after a stressful trip to the New York area: His flight was delayed and his bags were lost, per himself.

The Jets’ No. 10 jersey was last worn by Braxton Berrios from 2019-22. Berrios signed with the Miami Dolphins in free agency.
If Lazard wears No. 10, this will be the 15th consecutive season in which the Jets have had a wide receiver wearing the number, dating back to Santonio Holmes’ first season with the Jets in 2009:
- Braxton Berrios: 2019-22
- Jermaine Kearse: 2017-18
- Jeremy Ross: 2016
- Kenbrell Thompkins: 2015
- T.J. Graham: 2014
- Santonio Holmes: 2009-13
