The Jets seek to hold up in last stand of 2023
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ—The 4-7 New York Jets are not yet mathematically eliminated from playoff content. For that, their Week 13 matchup against the 5-6 Atlanta Falcons constitutes the team’s last true stand of the season.
With Aaron Rodgers looming, seeking to make a historic comeback, it appears that only a stunning Jets turnaround could bring No. 8 back to the field this season. With a 4-7 record—losers of four straight—Robert Saleh’s team must start winning, now.

Jets vs. Falcons history
- The Falcons lead the all-time series, 8-5.
The all-time series between these non-conference teams is a pretty tight one. Atlanta leads the head-to-head mark, 8-5, as it took the last meeting, 27-20, in December 2021.
In fact, the Falcons have won the last two meetings, as well as four of the previous five. What was once an even 4-4 all-time mark is now 8-5 courtesy of the Falcons’ recent success.

Jets vs. Falcons injury report
New York Jets
- Aaron Rodgers: Out
- Izzy Abanikanda: Questionable
- Dalvin Cook: Questionable
- Breece Hall: Questionable
- Wes Schweitzer: Questionable
- Kenny Yeboah: Questionable
Although Breece Hall and Wes Schweitzer are listed as questionable, both look good to go on Sunday, courtesy of their full participation in Friday’s practice.
Of course, Aaron Rodgers now appears on the injury report since he was recently designated to return from IR this past week.
Atlanta Falcons
- Mack Hollins: Questionable
- Mike Hughes: Questionable
Atlanta enters the game relatively healthy, with only Mack Hollins and Mike Hughes on the injury report with official designations.
Jets vs. Falcons prediction
- New York Jets 13, Atlanta Falcons 24
Again, until the Jets show me something by way of actual initiative on offense, there’s just no way I’m taking them. It’s one thing to struggle offensively; it’s an entirely different thing to wait until something bad happens.
Interestingly, with Wes Schweitzer and Duane Brown potentially back in the fold, Tim Boyle might have an improved offensive line in front of him. Still, an Arthur Smith-led offense with Bijan Robinson is a troubling idea against this porous Jets rush defense.
Give me Atlanta, 24-13, over the Jets in Week 13.
