Sauce can’t help but ‘shut down’ everybody
When a man is most comfortable on an island, he cannot help but internalize things. New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner understands this feeling, and his presence always impacts his surroundings.
Naturally, Sauce’s recent attendance at the New York Liberty vs. Indiana Fever WNBA game doomed Caitlin Clark’s latest efforts.
I’m the reason Caitlin Clark ain’t go off tonight y’all. That’s on me, my bad y’all. I shoulda stayed home😅 Still a good W for Liberty

After the fact, the Jets’ shut-down cover man revealed his presence at the Liberty-Fever matchup Sunday night in Brooklyn. He took it a step further by claiming that he was indeed the reason the newest WNBA superstar couldn’t light up the hoop.
“I’m the reason Caitlin Clark ain’t go off tonight y’all,” Gardner wrote on X after the game. “That’s on me, my bad y’all. I shoulda stayed home😅 Still a good W for Liberty.”
Gardner, 23, has morphed into the Jets’ newest social media comedian (and part-time unintentional lightning rod). While Aaron Rodgers carries the attention award en masse, Sauce’s tongue-in-cheek dry delivery has garnered plenty of attention this offseason.
Obviously, Sauce’s latest Clark-specific X post (formerly Twitter) is as tongue-in-cheek as it gets.

Gardner watched the now-7-2 Liberty romp the 2-9 Fever, 104-68. Worse yet, the newest basketball sensation put up perhaps her worst professional performance to date.
Clark, 22, finished with just three points on 1-10 shooting in 29 minutes. Averaging 15.6 points per game on 35.7% from the floor, the Fever’s new face of the franchise fell well short with Gardner in attendance.
Apparently, the tough Liberty—who were just two wins away from a WNBA championship a season ago—had little to do with shutting down Caitlin Clark.
All we can say is, “Hey, Caitlin … the likes of Stefon Diggs, DK Metcalf and Davante Adams know exactly what you’re feeling right now. You’re far from the first individual this fella named Sauce has shut down.”
