Jets players talk CFB 25 experiences: ‘I’m the video game humbler’

Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, and other New York Jets players are just like us when it comes to their CFB 25 experiences.

New York Jets players discussed their first experiences playing College Football 25

In at least one aspect, players on the New York Jets are just like ordinary people.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), the team asked players to reveal the first matchup they played with on Electronic Arts’ “College Football 25.”

Some players had expected answers. Cincinnati Bearcats legend Sauce Gardner played a rematch of the 2021 CFP matchup between Cincinnati and Alabama, but unfortunately suffered the same result as in real life. Gardner’s excuse was that his tackle could not block No. 19 from Alabama, so he “kept getting sacked.”

Malachi Corley took over Western Kentucky, leading them to a 14-0 record to face Oregon in the National Championship Game. Braelon Allen used his Wisconsin Badgers and beat Western Michigan in an “easy dub” but then said his next game against Alabama “did not go so well.” Breece Hall dove into the “Ultimate Team” mode and proclaimed it the game’s best mode.

The funniest answer of all came from wide receiver Xavier Gipson. When asked, the second-year player said Garrett Wilson did a number on his video game roster.

“He beat me so bad three times in a row. He beat me real bad in NCAA, and I ain’t played it since,” said Gipson.

In a later interaction, Wilson proclaimed himself as the “video game humbler.”

“If you want to be humbled, come see me. I’ll make you realize that you don’t really like the game as much as you thought.”

Gipson then said he wouldn’t lose to Wilson again, only because he would join Wilson on his team next time.

It is funny to see that NFL players have video game experiences similar to those who are not professional athletes. Sometimes, one wins their matchup against the computer, and other times they lose. Most relatable, though, is the role Wilson fills.

Most people have dealt with a friend or opponent who dominates a game so much that it makes one reconsider their life choices. They beat you so badly that it either causes a training arc on the game or causes it to start collecting dust.

Wilson is filling that role on the Jets. The only difference is that Wilson is a talented wideout who also has video game prowess. Hopefully, for Jets fans, Wilson can make some opponents rage quit during their matchups in 2024.
