The New York Jets have been anything but entertaining on the field this season (as we’ll stay away from off-the-field narratives for now). However, star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams had enjoyed his fair share of entertaining moments in the past (i.e. “Bless you, thank you”).
Perhaps that’s why Big Q and his better half appeared on Whistle’s new show, “Home Team,” which should lighten the mood as we enter the holiday season—and particularly after the Jets’ latest loss, a 19-9 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams.
Whistle, owned by global streaming service DAZN, has created a new show targeting superstar athletes and their families. The goal of the segment involves a light-hearted Q&A that gives fans an all-access look into their relationships through intimate quirks and funny stories.
While Williams is the lone Jets player to appear on the Home Team, the show will feature multiple high-profile football players.
Couples set to be featured include Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson and his fiancé Mikala Brown, Philadelphia Eagles tackle Jordan Mailata and his wife Niki Ikahihifo-Bender, and Kansas City Chiefs wideout (and former Jet) Mecole Hardman and his girlfriend Chariah Gordon.
The game itself is based on questions and challenges. The eventual “loser” has to open an envelope revealing their final task in the segment. Most times, it’s somewhat of a humiliation ritual (akin to “Impractical Jokers”).
However, it can most definitely be described as light-hearted entertainment the entire family can enjoy.
In Williams’ appearance, he is joined by his wife, Maranda, who gives the inside scoop on multiple personal quirks of the Jets’ star defensive tackle. Some of those include Williams’ passion for research, his great fear (which fans should get a laugh at), how many sneakers Williams’ owns, and much more.
By the way, Big Q’s greatest fear is everything about Halloween, “goblins, decorations,” or anything of the sort. For some strange reason, the Jets interior stud just isn’t a fan of the holiday, and we now have a bunch of serious questions.
While the Jets defender played a good game (even leading at times), the rapid-fire question round did him in, eventually causing him to lose the game. As his punishment for losing, Williams had to dress up as a pilot and express how special his wife is to him.
Ironically, Williams’ success on the Home Team mirrored the Jets’ success this season. However, losing to his wife may have more repercussions for his home life than any loss in the NFL could bring.
As for Williams himself, the Jets defender is looking to finish what has been a “disappointing” season in New York despite suffering a hamstring injury that has the Alabama product’s season in doubt.
Williams’s production has slightly decreased for the 2024 season. However, he has still been one of the brighter spots on a unit that has struggled this year—along with his brother, Quincy Williams.
The Jets’ defensive tackle has accrued 35 tackles and six sacks through 14 games. Whether or not Williams can return remains to be seen. Yet one thing is certain: Whether it’s on or off the field, the New York Jets have a true competitor who will always try and put his best foot forward in Quinnen Williams.
