There are a number of different avenues the New York Jets can choose to go down when it comes to drafting the right player for their team with the seventh overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The good news is that they don’t need to make that decision just yet.
We’re over a month away before the Jets have to decide whether to take one of the best tackles in the upcoming class or one of the best tight ends in a loaded group. That decision could make or break the new regime led by general manager Darren Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn.
And according to one report, the team is torn between three players.
Jets Targeting 3 Prospects
In a collection of reports distributed Sunday morning, Rich Cimini of ESPN detailed that the team was debating between wanting to take Penn State’s Tyler Warren, Missouri’s Armand Membou, or LSU’s Will Campbell.
“Former general manager Joe Douglas invested heavily in the line,” Cimini wrote. “Three first-round picks and one second rounder — but new coach Aaron Glenn comes from the Detroit Lions, where they used strong line play as the foundation for their turnaround.
“There’s no clear-cut starter at right tackle, so Membou, or perhaps LSU’s Will Campbell, will be a consideration.”
Warren was also a player that was heavily spoken about with Mel Kiper dropping his own bit of wisdom on the subject including previously mocking the Penn State product to New York.
“I went with Warren because they passed on Bowers last year, and I thought with Justin Fields, that would be somebody that could really create a nightmare for defensive coordinators,” Kiper said in his mock. “I thought maybe you could find a right tackle down the line just a bit.
While Cimini did no explicitly state that the Jets were mulling over the Warren-Membou-Campbell debate, no other position group was mentioned when he discussed where the team could go with the seventh overall pick.
No cornerback, wide receiver, or even defensive linemen.
Coincidence? Perhaps.
Analysis
The reality is, though, that the Jets have had one of the worst offenses in the NFL for the last few years due to a collection of factors. Part of it has had to do with having the wrong quarterback, but a poor offensive line, and skill player collection also plays a role.
It, therefore, should not come as a surprise to anyone that New York should focus solely on improving the offense in key roles like the offensive line before they even think about luxury positions.
No decision has been made just yet. No decision needs to be made yet.
But it appears the Jets could be in a position to get either the best tackle or tight end in the upcoming draft class. It’s just a question of who they prefer.
