Former New York Jets defensive tackle Solomon Thomas fits the Broadway spotlight.
On Friday night, Thomas made his Broadway debut, appearing in “MJ the Musical,” a musical based on the life of Michael Jackson, focusing on his creative process prior to the Dangerous World Tour.
“I cannot think of a better way to celebrate my time in New York than by making my Broadway debut,” said Thomas in a statement per Playbill.com. “I am so grateful to MJ for making this dream come true and for the support over the past few years. It’s truly an honor to be able to witness the greatness of these performers.”
Thomas portrayed the role of “Dave,” Jackson’s manager and agent.
The defensive tackle is no stranger to Broadway, having announced a Tony Award in 2024 and attended several musicals and plays throughout his tenure with the Jets.
Thomas, 29, spent three seasons with the Jets (2022-24) before signing with the Dallas Cowboys this offseason on a two-year contract worth up to $8 million, following former Jets defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton to Dallas.
During the 2024 season, the former No. 3 overall pick appeared in 16 games (one start), while posting 26 combined tackles (five for loss) with 3.5 sacks, six quarterback hits, and a forced fumble.
Thomas is also praised for his charitable efforts off the field. The former Jet spearheads “The Defensive Line,” a charity that aims to end the epidemic of youth suicide, especially for young people of color, by transforming the way we communicate and connect about mental health.
Thomas’ time in New York ends with a curtain call.
