Unfortunately for the New York Jets, wide receiver Garrett Wilson is yet again on the shelf.
According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Wilson is set to miss another three or four weeks due to the knee injury that prevented him from suiting up in Weeks 7 and 8. It’s the very same injury that also forced him out of the Jets’ 27-20 win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 10.
The good news is that Wilson avoided surgery. The even more troubling news revolves around how uncharacteristic this season has been for No. 5.
Wilson, 25, has compiled 395 yards and 4 touchdowns on 36 receptions in 7 games played this season. The Jets currently sport a 2-7 record, which means, yes, you guessed it … the team’s WR1 has missed two games.
Over the course of his first three professional seasons, Wilson missed a grand total of zero. From 2022 through 2024, the Ohio State product strapped it up for a full 17-game slateโdespite his less-than-brawny stature.
The injury troubles seemingly began towards the end of New York’s brutal 13-11 loss to the Denver Broncos in London. Down just two points late in the fourth quarter, struggling starter Justin Fields sought to put Nick Folk in field goal position for a potential game-winner.
On an out-breaker towards the left sideline, Fields threw it well behind Wilson, which resulted in the Jets’ wideout folding to the turf awkwardly. He would ultimately miss the next two weeks.
Thanks in part to the Week 9 bye, Wilson returned to the lineup this past Sunday. Unfortunately, he could not make it through the win healthy.
