It’s Arvell Reese vs. Rueben Bain.

Or is it?

Texas Tech’s David Bailey might have something to say about that.

The New York Jets are widely expected to take a non-quarterback with the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft. The debate involves who they will actually take.

Reese is the consensus favorite, but Bain won fans over with his standout performance in the national championship.

The dark horse, though, is Bailey. As Jets X-Factor’s Michael Nania broke down, Bailey arguably has the best analytical profile of any edge rusher in this class. Based on the numbers, he may have the highest chance of becoming an NFL star among himself, Reese, and Bain.

Forget the numbers. What does the film say?

That’s where Blewett’s Blitz comes in.

The stats speak for themselves: 14.5 sacks, 19.5 tackles for loss, and 81 total pressures.

So, why doesn’t Bailey get as much buzz at No. 2 as Reese or Bain? Is he being overlooked due to the hype surrounding two better-known players? Or are there legitimate concerns in his game that justify the Jets going in a different direction?

We’ll get all of the answers from Bailey’s All-22 film.

On the latest episode of Blewett’s Blitz, we break down Bailey’s 2025 performances against Houston, Kansas, Arizona State, BYU, and Oregon.

Below is the full David Bailey scouting report (strengths and weaknesses) and film review.
