The New York Jets are slowly filling out their roster holes in free agency and via trade
The New York Jets were quiet for most of the first day of free agency, but they’ve been active ever since. Joe Douglas completely revamped the offensive line and got a shiny new No. 2 receiver for Aaron Rodgers.
Let’s track all the moves the Jets made so far, as well as the players they lost and their continuing needs.
Free agency moves
- Safety Ashtyn Davis has re-signed with the Jets. (Mike Garafolo) The deal is for one year and $2.74 million but will cost just $1.292 million against the salary cap per NFL rules.
- The Jets traded a conditional 2026 third-round pick for Eagles EDGE Haason Reddick. The third-rounder will become a second if Reddick hits at least 67.5% playing time and 10 sacks in 2024. - The Jets signed C.J. Mosley to a new two-year contract that extends him through 2025 and clears $14 million in 2024 cap space.
- Trade! The Jets have re-acquired former right tackle Morgan Moses from the Ravens for a pick swap. They gave up a fourth-rounder (No. 112) and a sixth-rounder (No. 218) and received a fourth-rounder (No. 134) in return. Free agency losses
- Tight end C.J. Uzomah signed with the Eagles.
- Receiver Corey Davis applied for reinstatement to the NFL from the Reserve/Retired list. The Jets released him, and reports indicate that he would prefer a location closer to Tennessee.
- DT Quinton Jefferson signed with the Browns on a one-year deal.
- CB Bryce Hall signed with the Buccaneers on a one-year deal.
- Safety Jordan Whitehead returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a two-year deal worth up to $10.5 million.
- Edge rusher Bryce Huff signed a three-year, $51.1 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, becoming the highest-paid non-quarterback undrafted free agent in NFL history.
Former Jets of note
- QB Joe Flacco signed a one-year deal worth up to $8.7 million with the Colts.
- DT Sheldon Rankins signed with the Bengals on a two-year, $26 million deal.
- OT George Fant signed with the Seahawks.
- QB Sam Darnold signed a one-year deal with the Vikings worth up to $10 million. Right now, he’s the top passer on their depth chart after Kirk Cousins left to Atlanta.
- The Vikings also signed former Jets linebacker Blake Cashman to a three-year deal worth up to $25.5 million.
- LB Frankie Luvu signed a three-year, $36 million deal with the Commanders.
- DT Leonard Williams re-signed with the Seahawks on a three-year, $64.5 million deal.
Remaining options
- Former Ravens edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney visited the Jets today. The team still needs a No. 2 running back, and the top remaining options are D’Onta Foreman, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and Ezekiel Elliott.
