Training camp means something different to every NFL player. For New York Jets wide receiver Josh Reynolds, it’s a chance to capitalize on every rep and prove his worth in a new environment.

Speaking to reporters during the team’s second official training camp practice on Thursday, Reynolds shared the importance of maximizing every opportunity that he earns.

“I’m just here to do what the coaches ask,” he said. “And if the opportunity presents itself, make the plays that come to me.”

Reynolds, 30, spent three seasons with the Detroit Lions from 2021 to 2023. During the latter two of those three seasons, current Jets offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand was the Lions’ passing game coordinator.

Over 38 appearances in Detroit, Reynolds hauled in 97 receptions for 1,393 yards and 10 touchdowns. He served as the Lions’ No. 2 receiver in 2023, finishing the year with 608 yards and five touchdowns on 40 catches.

Reynolds inked a two-year, $9 million deal with the Denver Broncos ahead of the 2024 season and got off to a solid start, recording 184 yards and a touchdown on 12 receptions across five games. He boasted a 112.4 passer rating when targeted, more than 40 points higher than Denver quarterback Bo Nix’s average over that same stretch.

However, a finger injury forced Reynolds to the sideline by midseason, and a shooting incident during his recovery delayed his return.

He was ultimately waived by Denver and picked up by Jacksonville, where he appeared in five games for the Jaguars and registered just one catch for 11 yards on five targets.

Now fully recovered and looking for a fresh start, Reynolds is aiming to secure a key role in a Jets receiving corps short on proven experience behind Garrett Wilson. With the No. 2 spot up for grabs, every snap matters, and the former Aggie knows it.
