Mike Williams’ film shows a player who should fit like a glove in the New York Jets’ offense
One of the New York Jets’ biggest needs entering the 2024 offseason was to add a legitimate No. 2 wide receiver alongside Garrett Wilson. After sitting out of an active trade market, the Jets got their man, as they jumped on the opportunity to sign Mike Williams following his release from the Los Angeles Chargers.
Williams comes to the Jets surrounded by plenty of question marks. He has battled various minor injuries throughout his career, particularly to his back and neck. Right now, he is still rehabbing from an ACL injury that ended his 2023 season in Week 3. With Williams turning 30 in October, all of these durability-related issues are only magnified.
But what does Williams offer when he’s on the field?
The numbers are inspiring. In his last 17 regular season games, Williams caught 91 passes for 1,263 yards and six touchdowns. That’s with three of those games being shortened due to injury.
We’re not here to talk about numbers, though. This is a film show. Our question is this: When watching Williams’ film, does he project as a player who fits seamlessly alongside Wilson in the Jets’ offense?
The answer: Yes. We show why in the latest Blewett’s Blitz film review, breaking down 31 plays from Williams’ 2022 and 2023 seasons to showcase a full synopsis of his game. Plus, a full list of Williams’ strengths and weaknesses can be found at the bottom of the page.
