Garrett Wilson, OPOY? Two ESPN analysts think he is a dark horse for the award.

On the “The Mina Kimes Show featuring Lenny,” Mina Kimes and Benjamin Solak discussed Wilson’s chances of winning the award and why they like him as a sleeper pick.

“It’s so tempting. He’s so good. [Aaron] Rodgers loves to funnel wide receiver ones. Davante Adams had, like, 170 targets in 2021,” Solak said. “If he has a guy and you trust that guy, he will funnel him targets. And that’s if there are other good receivers. Look at the Jets’ depth chart. If Mike Williams gets here, he’s the only one! He perfectly fits what you are looking for.”

Kimes complimented Wilson’s traits and commented on his outlook for the 2024 season as well. She also said he has high hopes for Breece Hall in the team’s offense this season.

“He’s so quarterback-friendly with his style of play. The way he finds spaces in zone, he beats man coverage, if Rodgers is healthy is going to put up astronomical numbers in this offense.”

While the hype may seem very optimistic, it is well within Wilson’s reach. Those who have watched Wilson and Rodgers work this summer have seen a budding connection that is threatening to take the league by storm. The duo is already in lockstep, consistently beating a talented Jets secondary and finding ways to move the ball down the field for the offense.

With over a month until the season starts, the connection between Rodgers and Wilson will only grow stronger. As a result, the chances of Wilson challenging for Offensive Player of the Year will only go up.
