Breece Hall has quickly developed into the complete package at the running back position
After already impressing fans with their Day 1 haul of Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, and Jermaine Johnson, the New York Jets wrapped up a remarkable 2022 draft class when they traded up to draft Breece Hall early in the second round.
The first running back selected in the 2022 class, Hall had high expectations going into his rookie year. Hall wasted no time meeting them as he raced out to 681 total yards and five total touchdowns before halftime of his seventh career game. Unfortunately, an ACL tear ended Hall’s bid for a historic rookie year. He was the consensus favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year when he went down.
Entering his second season, there were questions about the type of player Hall would be coming off a serious injury. Would he be ready for Week 1? Would the Jets ease him into the lineup?
Hall got himself ready in time for Week 1, and he immediately squashed concerns about his health by rushing for 109 yards on his first two carries of the season. It was a sign of things to come, as Hall made one big play after the next throughout a successful 2023 season.
Unfortunately, poor circumstances around Hall prevented him from making as many big plays as he could have. Stacked boxes, bad quarterbacking, and bad offensive line play were a perfect storm of misery for Hall. Nonetheless, he still racked up 1,585 total yards and nine total touchdowns.
Hall’s success in such a poor situation is a testament to his all-around talent at the running back position. In the latest Blewett’s Blitz film review, we break down 34 plays from Hall’s 2023 season to learn more about the techniques, fundamentals, and skills that allow him to be such a dynamic playmaker for the New York Jets.
