Garrett Wilson still has room to improve as he aims for a breakout year
Every New York Jets fan knows the deal with Garrett Wilson by now. He’s shown the ability to be one of the league’s elite wide receivers and just needs the right quarterback to capitalize on the opportunities he creates.
And they’re right. Wilson’s ability to create separation has been incredible, and if his quarterbacks always found him when he got open, he would already be viewed as one of the NFL’s most dangerous weapons. With a full season of Aaron Rodgers, Wilson will have an explosive season in 2024 even if he does nothing differently.
But can he get even better?
Wilson is already excellent in many facets of the wide receiver position. And in the latest Blewett’s Blitz film review, we’re going to highlight the technical aspects that have allowed him to achieve mastery in those facets.
However, there are also some facets where Wilson still has room to improve as an individual, regardless of the quarterbacking. And if he can tap into new levels in these particular facets, Wilson’s ceiling will reach unthinkable heights in 2024.
In this edition of Blewett’s Blitz, we break down 68 plays from Wilson’s 2023 season. We highlight many of the plays where Wilson got open but was not rewarded. Additionally, we break down the areas where Wilson can still get better, and what he must work on to achieve those improvements.
